After a five year spell in the Civil Service as an Executive Officer in the Lord Chancellor’s department, John entered the profession in 1964 in private practice. Later he gained experience in industry in the trade marks department of ICI. He returned to private practice eventually to become trade mark manager of another major professional practice before joining the firm. He became a Partner in 1982. In the last 40 years, John gained wide experience in all aspects of UK and foreign work for major international clients. He was heavily involved with the Institute of Trade Mark Attorneys for many years and was Senior Vice President of the Institute before resigning to become Senior Partner.

John is a long-standing Member of the Institute of Trade Mark Attorneys qualified by examination and a Registered Trade Mark Agent. He is also a registered professional representative authorised to practice before the Office for Harmonisation in the Internal Market.
